My name is Megan and have worked for 15 years with animals in veterinary offices, doggie daycares and boarding facilities. I have taken pet first aid courses and am insured through Pet Sitters Associates. In addition for my love of animals, I have discovered a love of fitness and triathlons. Starting this company has helped keep me active and in great shape year round.
What happens at a meet & greet?
The main goal of the meet and greet is to become familiar and comfortable with your pets & their needs, as well as you becoming comfortable with me taking care of your pets. The visit typically lasts 15-30 minutes and it doesn't cost you anything.
Why not take my dog to doggie daycare?
Most dogs need about 45 minutes of physical exercise per day, depending on breed and age. Doggie daycares are great but for some can be a hassle to drive back and forth, having to work around their open hours and some dogs aren't good in group situations. Having someone come to your house saves you time and gives your dog one on one attention in the comfort of your home.
Where we run and walk?
We will start and finish at your home. Whenever possible, we run through parks and on trails to increase stimulation for your dog. Walks and runs can be arranged for wilderness areas (McDonald Forest, Bald Hill, etc.), there is no extra cost but travel time is included in the length of your visit.
Do you run and walk in all weather?
Typically yes! Rain won't stop us, but on those steamy summer days runs and walks may take place earlier in the day to avoid the heat and humidity. If extreme weather does happen, you will be contacted as soon as possible and rescheduled for your dogs safety. Petsitting clients are top priority during extreme weather and will always be taken care of. During the rainy season, I have a collection of rain coats to keep your dogs as dry as possible, so more time is spent having fun instead of drying off.
What safety precautions do you take?
Your dogs safety is the number one concern and will be constantly monitored for signs of heat exhaustion, fatigue or injury. Any concerns will be noted in your daily report. On every outing I carry my cellphone, fresh water in the summer and clean-up bags and have been trained in pet first aid, if a emergency were to come up. I use RuffWear leashes which are very durable and highly recommend their harnesses and collars.
How do I make payments?
Electronic checks, Credit and debit transactions are handled through the online booking system and can be paid directly through the invoice sent straight to your email.
Are you insured?
Yes, I am insured and bonded through Pet Sitter's Associates insurance company for both your pet and your home.
Will you take my dog to the dog park or let them off leash?
No, while I am a fan of the dog park I will not take your dog for many reasons. One being the safety and well being of your dog. There is no way to predict what dogs will be there and their temperaments. Your dog will be under supervision and on a leash at all times while we are walking or running.
Will I have to provide you with a key to my home?
Unless you will always be home at the time of our visit, a key or access code is required and preferred over a hidden key outside your house for safety reasons. For regular clients, I request two keys for your home, which will be give a code and put away until needed. Your name or address will never be attached to your key for security reasons. If you aren't a regular client, your keys will be returned after your last visit. For Scoop services we will not need to enter your house, litter boxes will be left outside and access to your yard will be needed for yard clean up.
What training and qualifications do you have?
I have worked in the animal care business for 15 years, taken pet first aid classes and am experienced with many types of animals and temperaments.
Do you let me know when you have finished your service?
Yes, updates are sent after every visit by email to let you know how your pets are, any concerns that may have come up and photos that were taken. If requested, I can provide information about our run or walk, such as pace, distance, elevation and our route through system tracking.
Are there additional fees on holidays?
A fee of $10 per holiday will be added to your invoice. Holidays include: New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve.
Electronic checks, debit cards and credit cards can easily be used through your online client portal. Invoices will be sent directly to your email.
